Sonya Grier talked to the LA Times to explain how Aunt Jemima and Uncle Ben perpetrate stereotypes.

In an article about the racism behind brands like Aunt Jemima and Uncle Ben, Sonya Grier tells David Lazarus how normalizing this type of imagery allows “stereotypes to be perpetrated conscious or unconsciously.” She explains some of the implications of these characters, including their suggestion that Black women should be caretakers.
